What is the KINGBOLEN EL50448 PLUS used for?

It is a 2-in-1 TPMS relearn/activation tool for Ford and GM vehicles. Use it after tire rotation, tire pressure sensor replacement, TPMS alarm work, or other service that requires a sensor re-learn procedure.

How is Plus different from the standard EL-50448?

EL50448 Plus supports both GM and Ford series with switchable modes. The standard EL-50448 is primarily for GM-series vehicles. Plus uses LED colors to show the active brand mode.

How do I know which mode the tool is in?

Press the power button — Green LED flashing means GM mode; Red LED flashing means Ford mode. Hold the power button for about 3 seconds to switch brands (both LEDs flash twice, then the selected brand LED flashes twice).

How do I use EL50448 Plus?

Install a good 9V battery → set the car into TPMS learning mode (horn typically twice for GM) → start at the left-front tire with the antenna facing up against the sidewall near the valve stem → press and release the button and wait for the horn chirp → continue front-right, rear-right, rear-left. When finished, the car horns twice.

How do I enter TPMS relearn mode on GM vs Ford?

GM: Park, use the dashboard/cruise menu to select TPMS re-learn; horn twice and TPMS indicator flashes. Ford: Park; with ignition OFF press/release brake; cycle ignition OFF→RUN three times ending in RUN; press/release brake; ignition OFF; cycle OFF→RUN three times ending in RUN; horn once and TPMS indicator flashes (LF may show in message center).

KINGBOLEN EL50448 Plus

The KINGBOLEN EL50448 Plus is a compact 2-in-1 TPMS sensor activation tool for relearn procedures on selected Ford-family and GM-family vehicles. After the vehicle is placed in its factory TPMS learn mode, the tool triggers each compatible tire sensor so the vehicle can relearn its wheel position.

2-IN-1 FOR FORD & GM VEHICLES
One Tool for Two Vehicle Families

EL50448 Plus is designed for selected Ford-family and GM-family vehicles equipped with a compatible factory TPMS. Supported applications may include selected Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, and Opel models.

SUPPORTS 315/433 MHZ TPMS APPLICATIONS
Compatible Direct Tire Pressure Sensors

The tool is designed to trigger compatible direct TPMS sensors used in supported Ford and GM factory systems with 315 MHz or 433 MHz sensor transmissions. Frequency alone does not guarantee compatibility, so the exact vehicle year, model, market, sensor type, and relearn procedure must be confirmed before purchase.

WHEN TO USE EL50448 PLUS
Tire Rotation and Sensor Replacement
After rotating the tires on a supported vehicle After installing compatible and correctly programmed TPMS sensors After changing between seasonal wheel and tire sets When the vehicle needs to relearn the position of each tire sensor After correcting the underlying cause of a TPMS warning
SIMPLE ONE-BUTTON SENSOR ACTIVATION
Vehicle-Led TPMS Relearn Procedure

Once the vehicle has entered TPMS learn mode, hold the EL50448 Plus antenna close to the tire sidewall beside the valve stem and press the activation button. Wait for the vehicle's horn, turn signal, dashboard message, or other confirmation before moving to the next wheel.

HOW TO USE
General TPMS Relearn Workflow
1. Install a fresh 9V battery in the EL50448 Plus. 2. Set the vehicle to TPMS learn mode by following its owner's manual or service procedure. 3. Begin with the wheel position shown on the vehicle display. Many supported vehicles start at the front-left tire. 4. Hold the antenna close to the tire sidewall beside the valve stem. 5. Press the button and wait for the vehicle to confirm that the sensor has been recognized. 6. Move to the next wheel indicated by the vehicle and repeat the activation process. 7. Confirm completion using the vehicle's dashboard message, indicator light, or horn pattern.
FOLLOW THE CORRECT WHEEL SEQUENCE
Common Order: FL → FR → RR → LR

Many supported Ford and GM procedures use the following clockwise order: front left, front right, rear right, and rear left. Always follow the wheel position shown by the vehicle or specified in its owner's manual because the sequence, timing requirements, and completion signals can vary.

CORRECT ANTENNA POSITION
Hold the Tool Beside the Valve Stem

Place the antenna tip close to the tire sidewall beside the valve stem and near the rim. The valve stem angle and sensor position may affect activation, so reposition the antenna around the valve area if the vehicle does not recognize the sensor immediately.

CLEAR OPERATING INDICATORS
TX and Low-Battery Feedback

The green TX indicator shows when the tool is transmitting an activation signal, while the red low-battery indicator alerts you when the 9V battery needs replacement. The one-button layout keeps routine sensor triggering straightforward.

COMPACT HANDHELD DESIGN
Easy to Carry and Store

Measuring approximately 5.9 inches tall and 2.4 inches wide, the lightweight EL50448 Plus fits easily in a glove box, garage cabinet, or toolbox. Its self-contained handheld design makes it practical for routine DIY tire service.

FCC PART 15 COMPLIANT
FCC ID: 2A5FO-EL-50448

The EL50448 Plus series is covered by an FCC Part 15 equipment authorization under FCC ID 2A5FO-EL-50448.

Important Compatibility Notes
Designed for selected Ford-family and GM-family vehicles only. Selected passenger vehicles, SUVs, and light-duty pickups may be supported; confirm the exact year and model before purchase. Not intended for heavy-duty commercial trucks or unsupported multi-wheel TPMS applications. This Ford/GM version is not intended for Toyota or Nissan vehicles. Works with compatible direct TPMS sensors that are already programmed for the vehicle. Not designed for external valve-cap aftermarket TPMS systems. Does not program blank sensors, read sensor IDs or pressure data, or diagnose TPMS fault codes. Does not repair tire leaks, failed sensors, low sensor batteries, or other TPMS system faults. Horn and dashboard confirmations differ between Ford and GM models; follow the vehicle owner's manual. Requires one 9V battery, which is not included.
