Will this scanner work with my car?
The EDIAG Plus works with most petrol and hybrid vehicles manufactured from 1996 onwards that support the OBD2 standard (including EOBD, JOBD, and CAN-FD protocols). It covers 120+ car brands and 10,000+ models, including American, Asian, and European vehicles. It is designed for 12V cars and light trucks. If you are unsure, check that your car has a standard 16-pin OBD2 port — most cars sold after 1996 do.
Does it work with iPhone (iOS)?
Yes. The EDIAG Plus connects via Bluetooth 5.1 and is fully compatible with both Android and iOS devices. Simply download the dedicated app, pair the device, and you’re ready to scan.
What is Bidirectional Test and do I really need it?
Bidirectional Test lets you send commands to your car’s components — for example, turning on the cooling fan, opening/closing windows, or activating the horn — to verify they are working correctly. Basic OBD2 scanners can only read fault codes; they cannot test whether a component actually responds. If you want to diagnose electrical issues or confirm a repair without disassembling parts, Bidirectional Test saves significant time and money.
Can it turn off the Check Engine Light?
Yes. Once you have identified and resolved the underlying issue, the EDIAG Plus can clear the fault codes and turn off the Check Engine Light (MIL). Note: if the root cause is not fixed, the light will come back on after a short drive.
Does it support oil reset and other maintenance functions?
Yes. The EDIAG Plus includes 15+ special reset functions: Oil Light Reset, TPMS Reset, Brake Pad Reset, Battery Reset, ABS Bleeding, SAS Calibration, Injector Coding, DPF Regeneration, Immobilizer Matching, Throttle Learning, Transmission Learning, Suspension Matching, Sunroof Initialization, AFS Headlight Matching, and more. Availability depends on your specific vehicle model.
My car is a 2021+ GM or Ford — will it be compatible?
Yes. The EDIAG Plus supports the CAN-FD protocol, which is required for newer GM and Ford vehicles (e.g., 2021–2026 Ford F-150, 2021–2025 Chevrolet Suburban/Tahoe, 2020–2025 Cadillac Escalade). Many older scanners cannot communicate with these models — the EDIAG Plus can.
I have a Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler made after 2019. Will it work?
Yes, with FCA AutoAuth support. FCA vehicles after 2019 have a Security Gateway Module (SGW) that blocks unauthorized diagnostic access. The EDIAG Plus supports AutoAuth to unlock this module, giving you full diagnostic access. Note: you will need to purchase a registration number separately from the AutoAuth website — the scanner provides the login portal.
How often is the software updated, and is it free?
The EDIAG Plus comes with 1 year of free software updates via the app. Updates add new vehicle models, fix bugs, and expand reset function coverage.
Can I print or share the diagnostic report?
Yes. After a full-system scan, the EDIAG Plus automatically generates a complete vehicle health report. You can share it via email or print it directly from the app — useful for mechanics, used car inspections, or keeping a maintenance record.
Is this suitable for a beginner with no mechanical experience?
Yes. The Auto VIN feature automatically identifies your vehicle, and the app guides you through the diagnostic process step by step. You don’t need any technical background to read fault codes, run a health check, or perform basic resets like an oil light reset.
